On May 26th, 2023, the library celebrated the official launch of the Little Rabbit Community Garden. The garden is along the east side of the building, and has 30 buckets in wooden frames, and two 4'x8' raised beds. We are growing vegetables, herbs, and fruits that will be free to the community! The community garden will serve not only as a demonstration of how healthy foods can be grown in small spaces, but also as a small supplement to local food scarcity that is being shouldered mostly by churches and small food banks. The garden will be a permanent addition to the library's services.

Garden made possible byT
he garden was made possible by a $1,000 grant from Penguin Random House, a $500 donation from Genesis PrimeCare, $500 from the Friends of the Library, donated items from the Cass County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, Price Hardware, and support from the City of Atlanta. It would not have been possible without hard work by Library Director Kendra Harrell, Assistant Director Tammie Davidson, Master Gardener Theresa Mitzler, Master Gardener interns Carrie Pickering & Teri Lovely, Boy Scout Troop 501, and Freeman Landscaping.
